About the Role:
Brighton College (Singapore) is seeking an inspirational Teacher of Music to start in January 2026. The core purpose of
the Teacher of Music is to deliver high-quality, engaging, and inclusive learning experiences that foster academic excellence,
curiosity, and personal growth in every pupil. The teacher is responsible for creating a supportive and stimulating
classroom environment that reflects the school’s values and diverse community, while promoting global-mindedness
and intercultural understanding. Through effective planning, assessment, and differentiation, the teacher ensures that all
pupils make strong progress and develop the skills, confidence, and character needed to thrive both within and beyond the
classroom.
What you will be doing:
- Teach all timetabled Music classes in Pre-Prep/Prep.
- Promote Music in the Pre-Prep/Prep.
- Be responsible for care, security, and maintenance of Music resources and equipment throughout the Pre-Prep/Prep.
- Maintain up-to-date displays of Music around the Pre-Prep/Prep.
- Support school productions through prop and set designs where necessary.
- Run after school clubs targeting specific skills and ages.
- Liaise with other departments to develop cross curricular links.
- Take classes for music as timetabled.
- Co-ordinate all extra-curricular music activities.
- Organise major termly concerts, recital and a range of informal/teatime recitals.
- Provide music and lead school rehearsals for various festivals throughout the year.
- Provide music and support for events designed for current parents, together with events aimed at prospective parents, such as Open Houses.
- Support school drama productions where necessary.
- Organise a yearly house music competition.
- Organise room allocation for pupils to rehearse at lunch times and after school.
- Ensure that the range of abilities among children is catered for by planned differentiated activities. Mark works appropriately and as immediately as possible, giving individual feedback and encouragement whenever possible.
- Be responsible for the behaviour and discipline of children in accordance with the school behaviour policy.
- Meet with parents as required and foster good professional relationships and communication with parents.
- Liaise closely with the Head of College and other staff members regarding any children for concern.
- Provide PPA cover and to carry out any other duties reasonably requested by Head of College.
Who we are looking for:
- Bachelor’s degree in any field with PGCE or equivalent.
- International school experience (preferred but not essential).
- Superb writing and speaking abilities.
- Exemplifies the Brighton College (Singapore) values of Curiosity, Confidence and Kindness.
- An international outlook and understanding of working in diverse environments.
