As <strong>Director of Academics</strong>, you will research, develop, administer, and evaluate learning programs that meet the identified needs of stakeholders, client groups, and <a href="https://www.nan.ca/about/first-nations/">Nishnawbe Aski Nation (NAN) communities</a>. Furthermore, you will oversee the coordination and administration of all aspects of <a href="https://www.oshki.ca/program">Oshki-Wenjack’s post-secondary educational programs</a>. Equally important, you will work alongside passionate educators and community partners dedicated to empowering Indigenous learners.</p> <p><span style="text-decoration: underline"><strong>Key Duties & Responsibilities:</strong></span></p> <ul> <li>Maintain a clear vision for the academic department aligned with the Institution’s mission, vision, values and goals</li> <li>Implement strategies to enhance student retention, engagement, and graduation rates</li> <li>Recruit, onboard, train, and supervise employees in the academic department</li> <li>Develop and implement long-term academic plans and policies to promote growth and innovation</li> <li>Develop an annual budget and operating plan to support each program</li> <li>Build and maintain strong relationships with staff, students, training and community partners</li> <li>Develop a program evaluation framework to assess the strengths and weaknesses of each program and identify areas for improvement</li> <li>Ensure Indigenous teaching methodologies, worldview, context, etc., are infused into the curricula development</li> <li>Oversee the design, development, review, evaluation, and enhancement of curricula to meet educational standards, regulatory requirements, and student needs</li> <li>Implement evaluation processes to monitor and improve academic performance</li> <li>Ensure compliance with applicable legislation, regulations, contracts, policies, and procedures</li> <li>Develop funding proposals for programs that meet community needs and ensure the continuous delivery of services</li> <li>Communicate with funders, as outlined in the funding agreement terms and conditions.</li> <li>Other duties as requested by the <a href="https://www.oshki.ca/about/staff">Sr. Vice President</a>, Academics, commensurate with the role.</li> </ul> <p><span style="text-decoration: underline"><strong>Requirements:</strong></span></p> <ul> <li>An advanced University Degree in Education (MEd, EdD, PhD), ideally in curriculum development</li> <li>5-7 years of demonstrated academic post-secondary teaching/leadership experience and/or senior management of a public sector entity</li> <li>An equivalence of education and extensive experience in curriculum development, educational leadership, program accreditation, and management will be considered.</li> <li>Experience working in a not-for-profit sector</li> <li>Experience seeing projects through the full life cycle</li> <li>Financial management experience</li> <li>Experience leading teams</li> </ul> <p><span style="text-decoration: underline"><strong>Oshki-Wenjack’s Commitment To You</strong></span><br /> We are committed and dedicated to building a workforce that reflects the demographics that we serve.
